Brain Health and Wellness Coaching

Make lasting changes and reduce your dementia risk with expert coaching support.

At the Deanna and Sidney Wolk Center for Memory Health, we care about every aspect of well-being that supports brain health. Modifiable lifestyle factors contribute more to cognitive health than some realize. Research suggests that modifiable factors could prevent or delay nearly 45% of dementia cases, even for those already experiencing cognitive decline!

At the same time, knowing that exercising regularly and eating nutritious foods are good for your body and brain doesn’t mean motivating yourself is easy. That’s where a wellness coach can help.

The Evergreen Brain Health Coaching Program at the Wolk Center for Memory Health empowers you to take charge of your health by uncovering the motivation behind your goals. You’ll work closely with our national board-certified health & wellness coach to improve overall health and well-being, reduce risk factors for dementia, and promote brain health. Our evidence-based coaching can provide the accountability and guidance you need to make lasting, meaningful lifestyle changes.

Our individual and group coaching allows you to:

  • Develop a personalized wellness plan.
  • Focus on practical steps tailored to your brain health goals.
  • Strengthen habits that support brain health.
  • Navigate lifestyle changes with expert guidance.
  • Track your progress with a science-backed brain health questionnaire.

The Evergreen Brain Health Coaching Program is supported by the Eleanor and Herbert Bearak Memory Wellness for Life Program.

A Personalized Approach to Wellness Coaching

In our coaching sessions, we focus on several key pillars of brain health:

  • Nutrition
  • Movement
  • Sleep
  • Mood
  • Mind
  • Motivation

In individual or small group sessions, you and your coach will identify which areas you’re thriving in and which could use a little attention. Then you’ll come up with achievable short- and long-term goals to help you make lifestyle changes that stick. Your coach will be by your side every step of the way for accountability and support.

Eligibility for Brain Health and Wellness Coaching

We welcome anyone looking to improve their health and wellness with the guidance of a coach! Brain health coaching can benefit those with mild cognitive symptoms or anyone looking to improve their overall health and well-being.

Even if you are currently experiencing mild cognitive impairment, that doesn’t mean dementia is inevitable. Mild cognitive impairment can remain stable for years and, in some cases, may even improve!

If you have been diagnosed with dementia, wellness coaching could help you make lifestyle changes that help you maintain your well-being and potentially slow the progression of your condition. However, brain health coaching works best for those who can actively participate by remembering the past week’s activities or routines.

Care partners and family members of those with cognitive decline, as well as anyone who feels proactive about taking their health into their own hands, are also encouraged to work with our coach to improve their own health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Scientific research shows that lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise, and cognitive training, can reduce dementia risk. Additionally, various studies have associated following the MIND diet with a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Even so, many people struggle to maintain healthy habits on their own.

Many people believe they can make lifestyle changes alone, but change is hard, and maintaining new habits long-term can be even harder. Many resolutions or attempts at diet or exercise programs fail within the first month! Personalized guidance, accountability, and the ability to overcome barriers can lead to lasting change, and those are just some of the benefits of working with a wellness coach. If the challenges of making long-term habits sound familiar to you, it might be time to consider a wellness coach to help you reach your goals.

In your first and last sessions, you will explore many areas of your lifestyle and brain health through an in-depth guided questionnaire and receive your overall brain health score. The multidisciplinary team of memory experts at the Wolk Center for Memory Health worked together to create this questionnaire to ensure it was scientifically validated and comprehensive. By repeating the evaluation in your last appointment, you can measure and reflect on your progress during your coaching sessions.

In the coaching sessions between your two evaluations, you and your coach will discuss how your goals for the previous week went, create goals for the upcoming week, explore strategies for success, and overcome any challenges standing in your way. Sessions take place in an individual or group setting, depending on the coaching option you choose.

Brain health coaching is a private-pay service not currently covered by insurance. However, many people find that investing in their long-term health through a wellness coach is worth it — much like finding the perfect personal trainer to stay physically fit! Preventing chronic conditions through lifestyle modifications is often much more cost-effective than treating them later. Brain health coaching at the Wolk Center for Memory Health gives you personalized support and accountability so you can make sustainable changes that help you achieve your health goals for good.

Brain health coaching is offered as a private-pay service focused on helping participants make meaningful, lasting lifestyle changes. Personalized coaching costs $1,000 for the 10-visit program, and group coaching costs $500 for a 12-week program.
